One of my favorites in this top-notch nonfiction series for young readers (especially great for reluctant readers or those who think they might not like nonfiction)。 Great format, well-told story, and the same great illustrations we've come to expect from the 'I Am' cannon。 One of my favorites in this top-notch nonfiction series for young readers (especially great for reluctant readers or those who think they might not like nonfiction)。 Great format, well-told story, and the same great illustrations we've come to expect from the 'I Am' cannon。 。。。more

I couldn’t not buy this book! I was raised on Dolly and since my mom passed almost 4 years ago, I’ve brought her even more into my life, finding comfort and joy in her music。 I’m also a huge Brad Meltzer fan - love his books and miss his TV show。 I loved this description of Dolly’s life even though I already know it so well。 My mom grew up in Alabama, in a small house with a dirt floor, newspaper on the walls and no indoor plumbing (very similar to Dolly’s upbringing)。 She always said that as ki I couldn’t not buy this book! We love the ordinary people series! I love that it teaches the kids they can change things even if they are regular people。 We can celebrate people who aren't famous。 We love the ordinary people series!
